Fall 2018-Mock Interviews

CSC-Mock Interview

1. Description

We, Columbia Statistics Club or CSC, plan to hold two mock interview session each week in this semester. Our goal of these mock interview sessions is to help the students gain more comfort in their incoming interviews. We are aiming at providing a formal but learning environment for students to help each other acquire some essential interview techniques.

The mock interview will be conducted as group interview format holding eight students during each session, which will last approximately 1.5 hours. The eight students will be divided into two groups, and each group will take turns to interview the other group as well as answering questions raised by the other group. This way the students not only could familiarize themselves with the interview process and environment, but may learn from their peers by listening to how others address the same questions, and the best out of which they could also gain a refreshing mindset of the interview after being as an interviewer.

The interview will cover both technical and behavioral questions. A list of behavior questions will be provided to students at the beginning of their mock interview session, and you could ask students on the other group the questions either on the list provided or from your own preparation. There will be at least two CSC E-board members presented for each session to facilitate the interview and ask some general technical questions. At the end of mock interview sessions, the students attended should expect to get feedback from both CSC E-board members and their peers.
