SUMMARY:Ullyot Public Affairs Lecture - Sir James Fraser Stoddart
DESCRIPTION:Sir James Fraser Stoddart\, 2016 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry\, known for his work in supramolecular chemistry and nanotechnology\, will deliver the 27th annual Ullyot Public Affairs Lecture at the Chemical Heritage Foundation. Fraser Stoddart’s work has benefited from interdisciplinary study\, as his explorations of art history and topology helped him better understand and explain molecular knots. In this free lecture he will describe how the culture of science and the culture of art seamlessly nourish each other. \nSir James Fraser Stoddart\, currently a Board of Trustees Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University\, was the Saul Winstein Professor of Chemistry at the University of California\, Los Angeles (UCLA)\, from 1997 to 2002. He then held the Fred Kavli Chair of NanoSystems Sciences at UCLA while also working as the director of the California NanoSystems Institute from 2002 to 2007. \nThe lecture begins at 6:00 pm\, and is followed by a reception at 7:00 pm.
