DESCRIPTION:Cantina Royal\, 58 North 3rd Street Brooklyn\, NY\, 11249 \nSpeakers: Andrea Gomez\, Valerie Were\, and Helen Cheng \n500 Women Scientists is partnering with taste of science for the 2018 festival by hosting a Science Salon. Science is integral to sustaining a healthy planet and thriving communities. Find out how\, as our three speakers explore the connection between their scientific research and issues of climate change\, resiliency\, and environmental sustainability. This event\, co-hosted by the NYC Pod of 500 Women Scientists and the NYC chapter of EcoWomen\, is part of a campaign organized by the national 500 Women Scientists organization to raise funds for our partner organization\, Ciencia Puerto Rico\, as they work to transform science education in Puerto Rico. \nTickets for this event ($5) can be purchased online; 21+ only. \nAndrea Gomez is the EPP/MSI Graduate Research Training Scholar at the NOAA. \nValerie Were is is the Social Science Lead Expert at the NOAA-CREST. \nHelen Cheng is a city-dweller turned solitude-seeking naturalist. She grew up in NYC\, studied New England coasts\, and worked in marine policy in DC and NYC. \n\nThis event is part of the 2018 Taste of Science Festival. \n\n
