SUMMARY:South-South II: Materiality and Embodiment in Greater Asia and Africa Conference
DESCRIPTION:International Affairs Building\nRoom 918\, 420 West 118th Street\nColumbia University\, New York \nLast year’s successful South-South conference explored Global South historiography through intellectual histories across South Asia and the Middle East. This year\, we seek to tell histories from a Global South perspective through the lenses of materiality and embodiment. Expanding the geographical scope to Greater Asia and Africa\, this conference will bring in scholars from these regions and beyond\, in the hopes of facilitating a deeper engagement with Asian and African concepts and archives. \nThe conference will be a forum for facilitating interdisciplinary and transregional engagement with global histories of science and the history of and from the Global South. \nFree and open to the public. Please refer to the conference website for schedule details. \nThis conference is sponsored by the Center for International History\, the Department of History\, the Weatherhead East Asian Institute\, South Asia Institute\, Center for Science and Society\, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences\, ISERP\, Department of Art History & Archaeology\, and the Dean of Social Sciences.
