McKinsey’s “How to Win in Insurance” is a great read, where one of my favorite quotes within it is that “Strategy is probabilistic, not deterministic”. The concept of the Power Curve is interesting as well, and with thoughtful insights for how it can be applied in practical ways.

Perry H. Beaumont, Ph.D., serves as Head of Data Science and Actuary at Distinguished Programs (a national insurance program manager) in New York City. He is also a Lecturer at Columbia University, and has published books, articles, and blogs on a variety of finance topics. Perry Beaumont’s latest publication, Digital Finance, was released in October 2019. With interests in both the academic and practitioner dimensions of financial services, he is also the recipient of a U.S. patent related to statistical applications of large datasets. Perry Beaumont also serves as a mentor for the organization Columbia Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Design.
