Cobble Hill Tunnel, Brooklyn, N.Y.

About 3 years ago I was lucky enough to be able to tour the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel, which has since been closed to the public by the FDNY. The tunnel was constructed in 1844 and closed in 1861. The tunnel was rediscovered by Bob Diamond, who lead the tour I was on, back in 1981.  You can read more about the tunnel here.
