About 2 years ago I was working on a research project that examined the early tile work done within the New York City subway. During my research I spent an afternoon at the N.Y.C Transit archives in downtown Brooklyn. While coming across a ton of historical treasures such as hand drawn/painted blueprints for the ceramic tile signs found in many of the city’s older subway stations dating back to the early 20th century, I came across some photos of work being done on the 1 subway line around Columbia University. I wanted to share a few of these. **Note: I do not own these images, they are property of NYC Transit archives.
