Ethnologue – a collection of demographic data for the languages and their speech communities around the world (Columbia provides basic access)

World Atlas of Language Structures (WALS) – outlines the phonological, grammatical, and lexical properties of the world’s languages

Linguistics Research Guide – Columbia Library’s guide to linguistics research, including resources for bibliographies, databases, handbooks, corpora, grammars, and selected journals.

Lexicon of Linguistics – online dictionary of linguistics terms.

Linguistic Resources on the Internet – SIL’s list of linguistics resources, organized by topic

Grambank – a more specific index of grammatical structures

Phoible – a collection of the phonemic inventories of the world’s languages

The Linguist List – online forum with job, internship, and conference postings (plus more)

Linguistic Society of America (LSA) – offers a job board, an annual conference, and other events like summer workshops, conferences, and committees

Columbia Undergraduate Research Funding – Funding for senior thesis and summer research

Columbia Undergraduate Research and Fellowships – Columbia’s larger database of research opportunities and fellowships, aimed at all undergraduates.

Columbia College Travel Award for Presenters – 4x annually offered travel stipend for Columbia College students

NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) – a catalog of ongoing NSF-funded research that funds undergraduate research assistantships; it is possible to filter for opportunities in linguistics.
