New CourseWorks is a robust system that provides wide range of features and tools to encourage user-friendly information sharing and collaboration between instructor and students as well as between students. This dynamic system delivers collaborative tools such as assignments, file management, test and quiz, gradebook and calendar.
The communications tools include email, groups, chat, wiki, discussion board, polling and social media.
New CourseWorks provides a user-friendly interface that easily enables importing and posting podcasts and video clips, posting citations and html documents, and setting up website links. It also has RSS feed capability.
The underlying software technology behind New CourseWorks is constantly improving through the development efforts of Sakai member colleges and universities which Columbia will continually leverage upon to keep pace with the changes in online educational learning management systems.
