Zombie Prom
Boy meets girl, girl’s parents don’t approve, boy jumps into nuclear reactor, boy becomes zombie… all in the first ten minutes of the show! A hilarious twist on the classic 50s bad-boy, good-girl romance (a la Grease), Zombie Prom tells the story of a teenage zombie named Jonny as he struggles to be treated just like any other kid. His girlfriend Toffee, the town reporter Eddie Flagrante, and Jonny battle against the hard-headed school principal Miss Strict to allow Jonny to re-enter highschool, and especially to go to prom. This show draws on the Motown and girl-group bubblegum pop of the 1950s (think Leader of the Pack by the Shangri-Las), while maintaining the feel of a pop-rock musical. Overall, Zombie Prom’s message is one of equal rights for all—in this case, even the undead.
The Wedding Singer played in December 2011 in the Lerner Hall Black Box.
