SUMMARY:Launch Event: Toolkit for Prosecutors and Communities by Prosecutors and Communities to Prevent and Address Officer-Involved Fatalities
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, February 26\, 2019 at the Schomburg Center in Harlem at 10:00 a.m.\, the Institute for Innovation in Prosecution (@iip_johnjay) will be launching the first ever Toolkit for Prosecutors and Communities\, by Prosecutors and Communities\, to Prevent and Address Officer-Involved Fatalities.  In the United States\, 1\,000 people are killed by police nationally; over the past decade 53 officers have been charged in connection with these deaths\, and only half of those have ultimately been convicted.  Over the past year\, family members who have lost loved ones to police violence\, district attorneys\, and police chiefs have worked together to create these important protocols. The IIP and our partners are committed to ensuring that prosecutors implement practices to prevent these tragedies and ensure appropriate accountability.  #ProsecutorsInnovate
