SUMMARY:Envisioning Life After Incarceration: A Gendered Response
DESCRIPTION:Please join The Institute for Research on Women\, Gender\, and Sexuality (IRWGS) and the Center for Justice for the first in a series of interactive panels on women and mass incarceration and criminalization. “Envisioning Life after Incarceration” will focus on the challenges women face pre- and post-incarceration and will explore public policy and other gendered responses to rebuilding a life after incarceration. \nFeatured participants will include: Reuben Miller of the Institute for Advanced Study\, Princeton\, NJ and the School of Social Administration\, University of Chicago\, Miyoshi Benton of The Women in Justice Project\, and Yolanda Johnson-Peterkin of the New York City Housing Authority. The conversation will be moderated by Assistant Professor of Sociology and African-American Studies\, Carla Shedd. \nLight refreshments will be provided.
