SUMMARY:Barcode - A Performative Analysis of the School-to-Prison-Pipeline
DESCRIPTION:Join us for one of the biggest events of the semester at Columbia’s medical campus! The featured performance will be a narrative of the student actors’ involvement with the school to prison pipeline. It combines rhyme\, multimedia\, hip-hop theatre\, dance\, and personal testimony. \nThe play draws connections from Trayvon Martin\, sourcing interviews with formerly incarcerated youths\, and citing research from NYC’s Stop & Frisk trials. There will also be a discussion on restorative justice\, and a talk back with the youth performing. \nLocation: Alumni Auditorium on Fri\, April 25th @ 7pm\nWilliam Black Medical Research Building\n650 W 168th St (Ft. Washington Ave) \nTickets: $5 for students\, $10 for general admission — ALL proceeds go to Truthworker Theatre Company! \nPurchase your tickets HERE! – http://barcode.bpt.me/ \nIf you’re interested in the intersection of public health and the penal system\, feel free to join our student organization\, the Association for Justice and Health:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/332660640099919/?ref=br_tf \nBrought to you by the Association for Justice and Health\, the Graduate Student Association\, the Mass Incarceration and Public Health Initiative\, the Black and Latino Student Caucus\, Columbia’s Justice Initiative\, and Mailman’s Office of Student Affairs.
