DESCRIPTION:The Columbia Journal of Race and Law\, The Columbia Journal of Gender and Law\, and Queer and Trans People of Color at Columbia Law School would like to cordially invite you to “Meeting at the Margins: Legal Issues at the Intersection of Race\, Gender\, and Sexuality.”  \nThrough this symposium\, we aim to center the experiences and legal issues of people whose marginalization is compounded by their race\, gender\, and/or sexuality. Because of their multidimensional identities\, they are effectively erased by our single-axis legal systems and traditional frames of critical legal analysis.  \nThe symposium will feature speakers who have worked throughout their legal careers to elevate legal issues at the intersection of race\, gender\, and/or sexuality\, including:  \nChinyere Ezie\, United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; \nEvie Litwok\, Witness to Mass Incarceration; \nKyle Rapiñan\, Sylvia Rivera Law Project; \nRichard Saenz\, Lambda Legal; and \nPorsha Venable\, Neighborhood Defender Services of Harlem. \nPlease join us on November 8th in Jerome Green Hall 104 from 6:30pm–9 pm for dinner and discussion with these litigators and advocates who are working to progress civil rights.
