The purpose of the Columbia University Panhellenic Council is to act as an umbrella organization to promote mutual collaboration among individual chapters of the Greek system and to positively benefit the Columbia University community as a whole. Specifically, the Panhellenic Council oversees the five Panhellenic Conference sororities on campus: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Sigma Delta Tau
In order to achieve its goals, Panhellenic implements programming that fosters the universal sorority ideals of leadership, integrity, and scholarship among its members. Panhellenic also strives to bring to light issues that effect modern women in order to ensure its membership can achieve strength through a feeling of community that will enable them to overcome future obstacles.
We, as the Undergraduate members of woman’s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.
We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.
