Interviews

Victim Interviews

If you or someone you know is experiencing–or has experienced–identity theft, the research team would love to interview you about your experience. Interview questions will explore how you think about your personal information, your experiences with others misusing that information, and your efforts to cope with or fix any resulting problems. Other details about the interview include:

  • Interviews last approximately 1-2 hours
  • You will have the option of anonymity
  • Upon completion of the interview, you will receive a $20 Amazon gift card as a thank you for your participation

Key Informant Interviews

In addition to the perspectives of individuals who have experienced identity theft, the PDIT Study is also interested in how organizations and their personnel understand their role in resolving identity theft and work together with victims to help resolve it. If you or someone you know works with identity theft investigation or remediation in a department or organization, including (but not limited to):

  • Local law enforcement
  • Government agencies
  • Financial institutions and other businesses (e.g. banks, credit bureaus, insurance companies offering identity theft insurance, debt collectors)
  • Victim assistance organizations

the research team would like to interview you about your work. Other details about key informant interviews include:

  • Interviews typically last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours (but duration can be adjusted to meet your availability)
  • Questions cover how you think about identity theft in your everyday work, your experiences working with people who report being victims of identity theft, and the policies or practices that guide you in that process
  • You have the option of anonymity
