One of the key initiatives undertaken as a social entrepreneur and as Board Chair of Columbia University Coalition for Sustainable Development (CUCSD), has been to create events and content that facilitate awareness and raise funds, for some of the most pressing issues in conservation and sustainable development. The events have been covered by global news media outlets like the New York Times, Aljazeera, and The Guardian, and have been acknowledged time and time again, by the United Nations‘ Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Helen Clark, Administrator of the UNDP. Dawn has been responsible for conception, design, logistics, budget, staff management, marketing, and promotional media for all of the live events listed below. The Kids Twiga Tally was conceived by Dr. Dan Rubinstein and Dr. Paula Kahumbu.

Worked with Dr. Dan Rubinstein, an international authority on zebras and Dr. Paula Kahumbu, CEO of Wildlife Direct and served as one of the lead data analysts. Participated in field data collection, survey design and implementation. Study was featured in The Guardian and on Nairobi Television (NTV) for the significant outreach to local Kenyan students and the community to promote conservation.
