Copyright is a legal right that grants the creator of an original work exclusive rights to determine whether, and under what conditions, this original work may be used by others. Authors' copyright entitles them to direct where their work can be published and how it can be reused or redistributed, for instance, whether it can be subsequently printed in a textbook or course reader, or if it can be deposited in and accessed through an archive.
