About Seamen’s Society:

The consultation team currently has 5 Masters Level Licensed Mental Professionals/Therapists form various departments such as Foster Care Behavioral Health, Prevention Services Program, Health Home Care management, and Safe Passage a (Community Domestic Violence Program). Seamen’s Society DBT individual therapy and after hours skills coaching are done by qualified Consultation Team members. Sherin also formulated and led the DBT Skills team  development. This innovative team meets bi-weekly and is supported by once a month DBT skills program consultation calls by the Linehan institute, for training and supervision of all team members, on the development and structure of a skills program for clients. Currently DBT skills groups are weekly for at least two hours for parents/caregivers. All Consultation Team members and Skills Team leaders have been intensively trained by B Tech Linehan Institute qualified trainers. The team’s plan is to expand to more specialty groups for fathers, young adults, and adolescents over the course of the year. At this time all DBT services are limited to the clients of the Seamen’s Society for Children and Families.
