Jade Luo ’19 and Rachel Smith ’20 Selected as PMF Finalists

Congratulations to Class of 2020 Presidential Management Fellows Finalists Jade Luo ’19 and Rachel Smith ’20!

The PMF Program is a highly competitive, flagship leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates, created to develop a cadre of potential government leaders. Those who are selected as finalists and meet necessary requirements become eligible to be placed in a two-year appointment in a participating agency.

There were 4,900 applicants, and Jade and Rachel were among 402 chosen finalists, six of whom are from social work programs and 19 from Columbia University at large.

    • This session is open to all disciplines, with a specific focus on Scientific, Technical, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Friday, September 27, 2019, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM (Eastern Time)
    • This session is open to all disciplines
  • Monday, September 30, 2019, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM (Eastern Time)
    • This is session is open to all disciplines, with a specific focus on Cybersecurity and Information Technology (IT)
  • Wednesday, October 2, 2019, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM (Eastern Time)
    • This session is open to all disciplines, with a specific focus on diversity and inclusion

As a reminder, the 2020 PMF application will open at noon Eastern Time, October 3, and close at noon Eastern Time on October 17.

Presidential Management Fellows Program

Are you a final year student or recent graduate interested in joining the next cohort of emerging government leaders at the federal level? Consider applying for the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program, a flagship leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates.

Candidates selected for the opportunity will be appointed for a two-year term with full salary and benefits and receive intensive training on leadership, management, policy, and other relevant topics. Past PMFs from Columbia School of Social Work have worked at agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Caitlin McGuire ’18 and Mary Roh ’19 Selected as PMF Finalists

Congratulations to Class of 2019  Presidential Management Fellows Finalists Caitlin McGuire ’18 and Mary Roh ’19!

The PMF Program is a highly competitive, flagship leadership development program at the entry level for advanced degree candidates, created to develop a cadre of potential government leaders. Those who are selected as finalists and meet necessary requirements become eligible to be placed in a two-year appointment in a participating agency.

Caitlin and Mary were among 351 chosen from a total of 4,045 applicants and a select group of 6 finalists from social work programs across the country and 12 from Columbia University at large. Finalists represent 113 separate academic institutions from 56 disciplines; 12% are veterans.

Want to make a difference through public service?

Since 1977, the PMF Program has matched outstanding graduate students with exciting Federal opportunities. This rigorous, two-year paid fellowship includes challenging assignments, developmental assignments, and networking opportunities. To become a PMF, you must participate in an rigorous, multi-step process, which includes an application, on-line assessment, and finalist selection. Finalists appointed as PMFs are hired by Federal Agencies and engage in solving domestic and/or international issues in areas such as public administration, engineering, technology, science, criminal justice, health, privacy, cybersecurity, and financial management, to name a few.

Recent graduates who completed an advanced degree two years prior to the application opening date and current graduate students who will complete their MSW by August 31, 2019 are eligible to apply.
