Mission

The Columbia Laboratory Energy Efficiency Network (CLEEN) is a group of undergraduates, graduates, post-docs, faculty, and staff committed to improving the energy efficiency of laboratory spaces at Columbia. We believe that as members of the scientific community we have a particular obligation to use energy responsibly, and we recognize the associated environmental, financial, and strategic benefits of doing so. Working with individual laboratories, departments, the University, and the broader community, we pursue projects designed to improve energy usage without impairing the productivity and safety of researchers. We have three major project areas in Energy, Sustainability, and Outreach. We are dedicated to creating enduring and significant change and welcome help from others in achieving our mission.
