Position/Party: Class of 2018 Representative Candidate/SEAScake

Bio: Originally from Weehawken, NJ I now find myself living on the other side of the Hudson River in Columbia’s Schapiro Hall. I am the youngest daughter of first generation Dominican immigrants and a first generation college student. I am preparing myself to take on the world by majoring in Operations Research and continuing an internship with Goldman Sachs Internal Audit – Technology this summer. I am hoping to take on another year as Class Representative to speak for students with backgrounds like mine as well as for those who want to make their last year here at Columbia the most memorable year of their lives!

Platform:As your senior class council, we will focus on the following initiatives:

1. Hype Senior Events: We have a history of being extremely responsible with our class budget, finding new vendors to keep costs low for you. What does that mean for our senior year? With a larger budget than ever before, expect the classic celebrations like Octoberfest, Winter Gala, Lerner Pub, with our classic ESC flair of ridiculously cheap swag and exciting graphic design.

2. Increasing Visibility for Post-Graduation Resources: Senior year can be an exciting but also stressful time for a lot of us. Job/grad school hunting, apartment hunting, student debt—all of these things are very real, very challenging aspects to graduating college. We on council promise to do our best to help you understand how to get started on life as real independent adults, so you can maximize the good times while we’re all still here.

3. Have More Cross-School Events: We really believe that senior year is all about coming together as one university, and to that end, we’re planning to organize several more cross-school events, beyond large dances or galas. Think engineers vs. college trivia night, olympics, you name it—this is our last chance to really get to know everyone else in your class, and we want to make that as easy as possible.
