TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, PART III CHALLENGES TO FAIR ELECTIONS AND DEMOCRACY BUILDING IN ARMENIA
In the last two forums in our continuing series, Armenia’s February 2008 presidential election and its violent aftermath were often cited as a crisis point in the republic’s struggle to build a functioning democracy. Now all eyes are on the upcoming May 2012 parliamentary election. Will it be a repeat of 2008? Will progress be demonstrated? What new challenges will emerge? Can the diaspora play a constructive role in bringing about free, fair and peaceful elections in the homeland?
