NSF Research Coordination Network – Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (RCN-CCUS) CCUS_jpeg

The goal of the RCN program is to advance a field or create new directions in research or education by supporting groups of investigators to communicate and coordinate their research, training and educational activities across disciplinary, organizational, geographic and international boundaries. RCN provides opportunities to foster new collaborations, including international partnerships, and address interdisciplinary topics. Innovative ideas for implementing novel networking strategies, collaborative technologies, and development of community standards for data and meta-data are especially encouraged. RCN-CCUS participants represent 10 countries with ~60 academic participants and ~26 non-academic participants. This project is funded by the United States’ National Science Foundation (PI: A.-H. Alissa Park, NSF program director: Dr. Bruce Hamilton).

Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy Lenfest

The mission of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy (LCSE) is to develop innovative technologies to ensure a sufficient supply of sustainable energy for all humanity without threatening to destabilize the Earth’s natural systems. LCSE focuses on developing the next generation of carbon capture and storage technologies (such as such as bio-energy with carbon capture and storage) by improving energy and atom efficiencies.

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

LDEO

Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is a core component of the Earth Institute, Columbia University, which brings together people and tools to address some of the world’s most challenging problems from climate change and environmental degradation, to poverty, disease and the sustainable use of resources. More than 120 Ph.D. level researchers work and teach at Lamont-Doherty; 80-90 graduate students are involved in research and a growing number of undergraduates participate in summer internships graduate students are involved in research and a growing number of undergraduates participate in summer internships.
